General Information
A Scientific Meeting on “Climate Change and the Kyoto Protocol” will be promoted by the Évora  Geophysics Centre at the University of Évora (Centro de Geofísica de Évora - CGE), bringing together scientists, stakeholders and NGOs.

The Meeting aims to assess the implementation of the Kyoto Protocol in Europe, and identify the challenges it poses, in terms of the scientific and technological problems to be solved, respecting both the climate system and the energy sector, including the final use of energy.

Invited scientists and experts will give an overview on (I) the Kyoto Protocol implementation, (II) the scientific background for this protocol, in terms of the mechanisms of climate change and of its possible impacts and (III) primary energy sources, energy vectors, intensity of energy use and their interactions with climate change.

The Meeting will close with an open Discussion Panel, composed by experts from Portuguese organisations belonging to different fields of activities and, intended to promote a broad discussion involving scientists, end users and the community in general.

A book with the extended abstracts will be published
